Descendants of Thomas STANLEY & Ann OWENS

Thomas apparently came to Canada while serving with the 1st Foot Soldiers, 2nd Battalion in 1813. He married Ann OWENS in Lanark County about 1834 and by 1861 the family was settled in Huron Township, Huron County, Upper Canada.
Their grandson, Isaac was an Innkeeper in Bervie when he bought the Grand Central Hotel and brought his family to Pailsey in 1894. Although Isaac was known as an avid horseman his sons and grandson were better known in the hockey world. See the Historic Paisley Album and the pictures below. .

Contrary to popular belief in the Paisley area the Stanley Cup was named after Lord Stanley, Governor General of Canada,
not Barney and Allan.


Allan ELLIS, is a direct descendant of the captioned couple. Allan's paternts Lawrence ELLIS and Dorothy McGREGOR were both born in Paisley, see Allan's Pedigree Chart.
