Abraham's son, Samuel Cowell, squatted on 83 acres at Concession 4 lot 13 South in South Cayuga before the township was settled and he claimed possession as he had lived there unmolested for years. In a small enclosure at the north end of the Samuel Cowell Farm in South Cayuga, along the sideroad are several graves. Here rests Samuel Cowell and his first wife Catharine Dickhout, as well as some of their family that died young. An iron railing surrounds the cemetery.
