Edward and Jean arrived in Bruce County, Ontario with a young baby from Quebec in 1853.Theysettled on Lot 16 and the west half of Lot 17, Concession 13 in Arran Township. They would eventually have a family of seven girls and two boys. When they arrived they had a three room cabin and by 1877 the Chebott's had 15 cattle, 16 sheep, seven hogs and four horses.
