Descendants of James PINKERTON & Jane (Janet) DRUMMOND

About 1854 David Pinkerton, son of James and Jane, of King Township in York County, arrived in Bruce, accompanied by his wife, Mary Ann PARKHILL five sons and other family members. The boys were young men, looking for opportunities that no longer seemed to exist in fully settled King Township. The mill site, shown below, was under development by John Shennan, was purchased by David Pinkertons. The family proceeded to develop the site, resulting in mills, housing and the village of Pinkerton.

An excellent and in depth account of The Pinkertons in Bruce is provided by Geoff Pinkerton.
