Peter and Nancy were married in Dunfermline, Fifeshire, Scotland in 1827 and in 1834, with at least nine children, they struck out for the 'New World'. The family landed in New York and eventuakky found their way to Dundas, Ontario, Canada. In 1858 daughter Nancy married John W. McLEAN, who was working for the newspaper in Ayr, Ontario at the time. John W.eventually became publisher of The Ayr Observer and Cornwall Freeholder and in 1885 he purchased the Picton Times from the Harkness brothers and the family moved to Picton, Prince Edward County, Ontario. |
