Andrew Milne (March 1830-April 11, 1911) was born in the parish of Tarland and Migrie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. About 1850 Andrew came to Guelph. He worked for Brown and Massie, a hardware store that also sold liquor. Annie Copeland (1832-Feb. 6, 1929) of Kintore worked in Aberdeen as a servant. At age 24 she travelled alone by ship, stage and lake boat to Hamilton to join Andrew. They married in Guelph on Oct. 22, 1857. Andrew purchased 100 acres of land in Bentinck Township on July 31, 1862. Annie had convinced him to take up land in the Queen's Bush to remove him from the temptation of drinking. They took their children, travelling by stage up the Garafaxia Rd., to Durham and then by ox cart to the farm they would build near Louise. They raised nine children on this pioneer farm. Andrew died on the farm at the age of 81. Annie died at the age of 97 at the Chesley home of her daughter Lissie Kidd. They were buried in the Chesley Cemetery.
