In August, 1860 Mary along with Grizel, Barbara, Duncan, Angus, Alexander (Hamilton) and John (Fisher) arrived in New York City on board the Ocean Monarch. By 1861 they were settled in Arran Township, Bruce County, Ontario, Canada where several other families from Colonsay had earlier emigrated.
