Evelyn used to tell us that she quit school in 5th grade when she was 14 to take care of Delia who was dying of cancer. She had open sores on her back & the bed sheets had to be changed constantly, so she had all that washing plus caring for Lawrence & Russell who was just a baby. Frank stayed home a lot then as Grandma raised the boys. Alvin told us many times that Delia was one of the nicest people he ever knew.
Lawrence said his Dad went to Malta, Mont. in 1925. He stopped over in Williston and mined coal to get enough money to go on. Delia had a brother living in Williston. Alvin, Harold & Dave went out to Malta to help Frank. Dave met Lora Waters out there.
After Delia died Frank went with Allie Waters (Lara's sister) for a time & they stood up for Alvin & Evelyn at their marriage.
Frank worked for Martins and later Pages at Hamilton & then started a garage of his own in 1936 or 37. Harold worked for him. He rented land north of Mahars at Hamilton and he and Lawrence batched there for several years before Lawrence went into the Navy in 1938.
Frank served in the SeaBees during WW II. He had been working in Whapeton then (1942). Lawrence said when his Dad died he was over in Korea on a ship. The telegram was sent by Red Cross & he didn't get it until after the funeral. Darlene was born the same day Frank died. He got message, but not the one of Frank's death.
Alvin said one year six of them went to Canada threshing. They went up to Humbolt, Sask. & worked late into the fall. There was snow on the ground & they had an open car so nearly froze to death! When they came back they stopped in Williston & Frank stayed.

50th Anniversary of MR. & MRS JOE TROTTIER April 24, 1966
On April 22, 1916, our Pearl was as happy as any queen; for 'twas on this day this lad and lass chose to become Mr. and Mrs. For a short time they lived with Alice and Bill on a place we all lovingly call "the hill”. Was here where Louis that tiny wee babe, the first born to this couple and made them his slaves. Time now came for a place of their own, too many aunts and uncles all over the hill so Joe decided no longer to stay with Bill. So with Pearl and the baby, did move where Alice a wee baby girl, made her first appearance in his old world. Followed by Laura so sweet and so pure, her life on this earth was not long to be sure, For whooping cough claimed the wee baby girl, it was a sad day for Joe and our Pearl. Then came Norval the fourth in line, was husky end hearty a charming young lad. Then to the Marines he went, to Hawaii mind you this lad was sent, was there he found Hazel, took her for his wife and promised to love her for the rest of his life.
Now the family moved to a place called McEwen, as for more family they thought nothing doing. Oh, they were surprised when Dickie was born, sure he'd feed the pigs and help hoe the corn! Next came Jackie who could talk long before he could walk. The family then moved down by the river. Remember that old line, send me a piece of your husband's liver.
This was the end of the family tree, till the first grand child was born to A1ice and Frankee. There is Jimmy and Barb and a wee one in heaven, then came June we see who will soon be twice times seven.
Then Louis and Ruth add four boys to the clan. There is Ben, Tom and Dennis, we would not forget Larry, that brave young man who gave his life serving Uncle Sam. Then there is Dick and Joyce, what a crew there we find, Ricky, Pam, Scott, Bonnie and Tonie. They live in Ohio a long way from home. So does Jack and Joyce with their two young men, Jeffery and Allan.
There are great grand ones too, to Ben and Marlene, there is little Dynette. Louis and Ruth are as proud as two grandparents can get. To Barbara and Mike there is little Michell, her grandparents think she's swell.' Jim and his bride ho we never have met, there is Dee Dee, Sayna and Bryn their pet.
Now in case this poem has no rhyme or reason, well for me it must not be the poetry season. But to Joe end to Pearl and all their family that we have listed on the family tree, go all our best for many more years of fellowship sweet, and trust that all their joys will be complete. And as we help them celebrate, this their GOLDEN WEDDING DAY, we pray the LORD'S BLESSING in their every way.
1967 One year has passed. In that time Tom and Kathy had Kim added to the tree. Also in that time Dick and Joyce's Pam has passed away.
