OBITUARY FOR LEWIS (sic) LAMB : Paisley Advocate, April 30, 1914.
A pioneer resident of the Gore of Greenock, who was for many years one of the most prominent men of the municipality, passed to his long rest after a life extending over 91 years.
Lewis Lamb was born in the parish of Ellon, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, in 1822, and in 1852 immigrated to Canada, coming first to Fergus, Ont. In the summer of 1854, in company with the late George Brockie, he made his way up from the middle Ontario clearings to the heart of the wilderness of woods in Bruce County. Mr. Lamb squatted on Lot 37, Con A, Greenock Twp., which lot he purchased at the government land sale in the fall of that year, 1854, and thereon he lived for the remaining sixty years of his life. Messrs. Lamb and Brockie followed the pioneer route of travel from the south, taking to a raft at Walkerton and disembarking at Paisley, where at that time only a few men had established their abode, but prospectors were beginning to crowd upon the wooded lands.
Lewis Lamb and George Brockie were the vanguard of a band of Aberdeen farmers who took possession of that part of Greenock in which these two young men planted stakes. The Lamb, Brockie and Davie families themselves took up 1400 acres. Among the other families who located in that neighborhood were the Leasks, Dalgarnos, Youngs, Houstons and D. Black. The surviving members of the Lamb family are about the only original settlers left.
Lewis Lamb took up with zest the pioneer labor of clearing his farm, and while working in the woods met with an accident that nearly cost him his life, a tree falling upon him. He was crushed to the ground beneath the large trunk and held there on that cold February day until help could be brought to release him. His leg, hip and arm were broken.
Mr. Lamb was early recognized as a useful man of ability in the community. He was chosen to be township councilor and in the course of years ran the whole gamut of municipal service, being in turn elected deputy-reeve and reeve, as well as school trustee, also later filling the positions of assessor and collector. He was one of the prime movers in the organization of Central Bruce Agricultural Society, was the first president of the organization and one of the men who made the fall fair at Paisley a successful farmers' institution.
In Scottish society gatherings in Paisley, such as St. Andrews day suppers and Caledonian games, Mr. Lamb was one of those always present. Intelligent and well-informed in mind, genial in disposition and kindly in manner, Mr. Lamb was a man generally respected and beloved. While he continued to be mentally vigorous and bright to the last and retained a lively, sympathetic interest in affairs, physically he failed so that he was unable to take an active part therein for a few years back.
He was never married, his home being shared with two sisters, Misses Susan and Jane Lamb, who are still living. Mr. William Lamb, of Greenock, is the only brother.
In politics Mr. Lamb was a Liberal and in religion a Presbyterian. His end was peaceful, a gradual failing from old age, without pain or suffering. For ten weeks he had been confined to bed, and death occurred on April 19th. The funeral took place on Tuesday of last week to Douglas Hill Cemetery, services being conducted by Rev. Mr. Mason.

OBITUARY FOR JANE MOIR LAMB
A pioneer resident of the Gore of Greenock passed away to her long rest after a life of over 89 years. Jane Moir Lamb was born in the Parish of Ellon in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, in 1836 and emigrated to Canada, coming first to Fergus, Ont., with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Lamb, her brother, the late Wm. Their brother, the late Lewis Lamb, had come to Canada two years before them to prepare a home for the family. The late David Black of Paisley came in the same ship with them. The subject of this sketch was known all over as Aunty Jean Lamb, and was always willing and ready to help everyone in time of trouble and sickness when nurses were few. She was beloved by all who knew her and was held in high esteem by her neighbours. She made her home with her nephew and niece, Mr. and mrs. Wm. Dalgarno, for the past few years. Her end was peaceful, being due to a gradual failing from old age, without pain and suffering. She was only confined to bed for two days. Her death occured on Sept. 29, 1925. OBITUARY FOR WILLIAM LAMB : Paisley Advocate
The last of the venerable group of Aberdeen farmers; the Leasks, Lambs, Dalgarnos, Brockies, et al, who, settled in the Gore of Greenock in the early fifties of the last century, passed to his reward on Friday last when William Lamb succumbed to an extended illness from paralysis. The deceased was born in the parish of Ellon, Aberdeen, Scotland, on July 11th, 1839, and was just one week short of his 82nd birthday. He was the youngest son of the late Alexander Lamb, who came with his family to Canada in 1855, and after living a few months in Fergus came up to the new lands in Greenock. Wm. took up lot 37, con A, where he wrought out a pioneer home and there lived for the remainder of his life. In 1877 he married Catherine Taylor, who survives him with a family of four daughters and three sons: William and Mrs. Henry Baker (Maggie) at Sedgewick, Alberta; John James of Craigmyle, Alberta; Mrs. Wm. Alexander (Susan) at Macklin, Sask.; Mrs. Marshall Watson (Kate) of Elora Road South; David and Lizzie at home. Mr. Lamb had been for many years one of the most active members and a director on the board of management of Paisley Fair. Although he never took any personal part in other public affairs, he was intelligently posted in all matters in which citizens should be concerned. He was a Liberal in politics and a Presbyterian in religion. His passing marks an entirely new era in the sphere of everyday life in the community in which he and others mentioned were the most prominent figures for nearly fifty years. Friendly and neighbourly in his relations with the people of the section and of most honorable character, he was universally respected by those who knew him. The funeral took place on Saturday afternoon to Douglas Hill Cemetery and was attended by a very large number of old friends, acquaintances and neighbours. The services were conducted by Rev. D.H. McCuaig, of Paisley in the absence of the pastor of Pinkerton and Cargill Presbyterian Churches, with which congregations the deceased had been connected since the early days. The family, also his remaining sister, Miss Lamb, who is in her 85th year, have the sympathy of all in their bereavement.
