Jessie Laverne MacIntosh (Hartlep) went to be with her Creator at dawn on January 11, 2004. Jessie was born in Ripley, Bruce County, Ontario, Canada on June 3, 1908. She was the second child of Angus and Catherine MacIntosh. Her family is proud to be members of the MacIntosh and MacLeod Highland Clans. She left Ripley to attend Nursing School at the Victoria Hospital and graduated with her Nursing Degree in 1930. She worked as a Public Health Nurse in rural Upstate New York, during the war years. She met the love of her life on New Year's Eve, 1947, in LaVern "Babe" Roe, who had just finished a tour in Europe with the US Army. They made their home in Milford, Michigan and raised their only child, Patricia Anne Roe. She lost her husband in 1964 and continued to work in nursing. She cultivated the medical field in her family and two of her nephews are osteopathic physicians, Drs. Albert and Robert Nestor. Her daughter, grand niece, son-in-law and grandson are all in the fields of medicine. She remarried Michael Hartlep and moved to Clearwater, Florida until 2003. She has been a Glendale resident for the past year living with her daughter and family. Jessie remained a devoted Christian throughout her life and continued to pray and sing her favorite song until her passing, "Amazing Grace". She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Roe, APN, PsyD, her brother and his wife, Donald Angus and Beulah MacIntosh in St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada, her niece, Sheila and Donald Murray of Kincardine, Canada, her physician nephews and their families in Florida

A wedding of local interest was solemnized at the parsonage in Milverton on Friday last, when one of Cargill's most popular young ladies, Miss Florence Metcalfe, only daughter of Mrs. Metcalfe and the late Mr. Jonathan Metcalfe, became the bride of Mr. John Watson, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Watson of Eden Grove. The ceremony being performed by Rev. Huddleston, a former pastor of the local United Church, but now residing in Milverton. Both young people are well known here, the groom having been raised in the Eden Grove section and the bride who was born in Greenock, has for a number of years been connected with Bell Telephone Co. as an operator in the Cargill office and later in the Walkerton office, giving her best in both places where she was popular with the public on account of her pleasant, courteous manner. After the ceremony the wedding party and a number of friends partook of a sumptuous wedding dinner prepared by the Huddlestons for them. The happy couple left on short trip to Kitchener, Niagara Falls and Queenston. The many beautiful and useful gifts received show in a measure the esteem in which this young couple is held. To Mr. and Mrs. Watson we extend our best wishes for a long happy wedding life.

A wedding of local interest was solemnised at the parsonage in Milverton on Friday last, when one of Cargill's most popular young ladies, Miss Florence Metcalfe, only daughter of Mrs. Metcalfe and the late Mr. Jonathan Metcalfe, became the bride of Mr. John Watson, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Watson of Eden Grove. The ceremony being performed by Rev. Huddleston, a former pastor of the local United Church, but now residing in Milverton. Both young people are well known here, the groom having been raised in the Eden Grove section and the bride who was born in Greenock, has for a number of years been connected with Bell Telephone Co. as an operator in the Cargill office and later in the Walkerton office, giving her best in both places where she was popular with the public on account of her pleasant, courteous manner. After the ceremony the wedding party and a number of friends partook of a sumptuous wedding dinner prepared by the Huddlestons for them. The happy couple left on short trip to Kitchener, Niagara Falls and Queenston. The many beautiful and useful gifts received show in a measure the esteem in which this young couple is held. To Mr. and Mrs. Watson we extend our best wishes for a long happy wedding.
