Upon his return, he joined his father's company Canada Health and Accident located in Waterloo. After 20 years Richard moved his career into real estate and was a dedicated and respected Real Estate Agent for 40 years in the Region. A longtime member of the Westmount Golf Club, The Waterloo Club and Richard was the first sales agent who became President of the K-W Real-estate Board. Richard's passion was golf. He would arrange tournaments that took him and friends to Scotland, Ireland, Arizona and Myrtle Beach. 53 years ago, Richard started a tournament that continues to go on in Southampton Ont.

Ross was born in Paisley, Ontario on August 9,1920 to the late James Ellis and Margaret Stanley. During WWII, he proudly served his country from 1940-1945 as an airframe mechanic with the RCAF, remustering to air gunner in 1943. He also served with the RAF, 158 Squadron. After the war, Ross and Mary settled in Toronto, moving to Willowdale in 1953. He moved to Elgin Lodge in Port Elgin, Ontario in December, 2011. He was a member of UA Local 46, Air Gunners Association, Aircrew Association, RCAF Wing 408 and 437, and the Royal Canadian Legion 527. Ross was an avid sports fan and particularly enjoyed watching Maple Leafs, Blue Jays and the CFL.
