As a young lad "Jack" Lamb went to work in Dyer Bay on the Bruce Peninsula at a lumber mill owned by the Thompson brothers. One of the brothers was married to Jane Alexander. Later, Jack along with Jim Leask, went west on a harvest excursion. Jack stayed out west and worked for a time on the boats on Lake Athabasca. Late in 1911 he had raised enough money to start a homestead at Dowling Lake, near Craigmyle. Unfortunately he lost his farm in the depression of the thirties when Jack returned to Greenock and lived with uncle Dave on the home farm for some time before relocating to Walkerton. + 45 iv.
