Son of George Ballachey; b. Brantford; ed. Brantford P.S. and C.I.; R. College Dental Surgeons, 1895-99, D.D.S.; Practised at Brantford; 38th Regt., Major; married Frances I. Doyle.
In June 1915 he was appointed to the 58th Battalion as Second in Command, and reached France early in 1916. The battalion was first stationed in the Ypres Salient, and here he served through the fierce fighting that followed the attack on Sanctuary Wood. Early in the morning of the day after the successful counter-attack he was going up to the front line, when he was struck by a shell fragment and instantly killed. Buried near Poperinghe.
