Descendants of George CRUICKSHANK & Jean MILNE

CRUIKSHANK is a surname used by the original Picts who resided ner the river Cruick in the former county of Kincardine, The word 'shank' means a projecting point of a hill.
George and Jean apparently lived in the Parish of Foveran where all their children where born. Their grandson John CRUICKSHANK b.1807, was the Overseer at Hillhead of Fechil, a farm immediately south of Ellon, Aberdeenshire. John and Helen's son William married Catherine LAMB from Logie Buchan in 1853 and soon after emigrated to Canada, settling next door to the LEASK, LAMB and BROCKIE Families in Greenock Township, Bruce County, Ontaeio.

John Alfred 'Jack' TANNER (1939-1975) was born and raised in Elderslie Township. His mother was Reta METCALFE, a descendant of the METCALFE Family on our Home Page.
