Descendants of Charles KISSACK & Susannah YOUNG

The following account was taken from Bruce Township Tales & Trails:
Charles Young Kissack (son of Charles Sr, & Suasannah) arrived from Ramsay, Isle of Man, situated in the Irish Sea in March 1852. He purchased Lot 35, Concession 13 from Thomas and Christina ORCHARD for a price of 100 pounds. He constructed a shanty next to the creek that runs through the farm. It was named Bellarnona Farm after a favourite place on the Isle of Man called Ballamanagh. He then returned to the Isle of Man to bring his wife Elizabeth Kermode to Canada. He was 24 years old, and she was 20 years old.
Ten children were born to this pioneer couple, eight girls and two boys. Sarah married Albert
PEARCE and lived in Paisley. Susan married Alex EASTWOOD and lived in London. Francis (married David Smeaton and Sadie) married Dr. ]ames McCARTNEY. They spent many years in China as missionaries. She disappeared during World War II. Prudence married George SHEILDS of London. Mary died at age four. Rebecca (Reba) married Dr. Benjamin DONALD and lived near Hamilton. Catherine married George KNOX of Allenford. ]ohn had a varied career in electrical engineering which took him many places. He was married twice, first to Laura STORING, then to Mabel BUTTS. He lived his last years at Wallaceburg, Ontario.
Charles William operated the family farm from 1899 until 1932. He was always interested in carpentry work and for many years operated a custom buzz sawing machine.
