James Yuill emigrated to Canada by himself aboard the "Hesperian", landing in Quebec City on June 16, 1913. he went to work as a farm labourer for Lorne Roberts at RR #3 Simcoe, Ontario. He returned to Scotland in 1915.
In 1925 James returned with his wife Annie and four children travelling aboard the "Montreal", disembarking in Quebec City on April 27, 1925. They were sponsored by the Land Agent in Walkerton.
