1. Richard McCONNELL, son of James McCONNELL and Agnes McCLARKING, was born in 1780 in , Killevey Parish, Armagh, Northern Ireland1 and died on May 18, 1871 in Walkerton, Bruce Co, Ontario, Canada1 at age 91.

Richard McCONNELL's military exploits :
21 November 1811 Richard Joined 1st Regiment of 91st (Argyllshire Highlanders) Regiment of Foot. In 1809 the regiment was sent to the Kingdom of Holland on the less auspicious Walcheren Campaign. Richard joined midway through this campaign.

In 1812 Richard went with the 91st 1st Regiment were sent back to Spain to fight in the Peninsular War in the Duke of Wellington's Army. They fought at the Battles of Vittoria Spain in June 1813 and Sorauren at Navarra Spain in July.

Richard was with The 91st Foot, 1st Regiment in France in 1913, Neville in November and Bayonne in December. In 1814 the 91st were heavily involved in the fighting in Southern France that led to the Battle of Toulouse in April which ended Penninsular Campa.

In June 1815 Richard and the 91st fought with distinction at the cross roads at Quatre Bras Namur, Belgium where they helped hold off Napolean from splitting the Allied Army.

18 June 1815, Richard and the 91stwhere in Waterloo, Brabant Wallon, Belgium. They did not fight at the Battle of Waterloo but were based at Halle guarding the right flank of Wellington's Army.

19 June 1815 at Cambrai, Nord, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France. Richard and the 91st attacked. the fortified city of Cambray which surrendered the next day

Stationed in St. Pol France on 23rd January 1816.

On 23 April 1816 in London England the Waterloo Medal was conferred upon every Officer, Non-Commissioned Officer and Soldier of the British Army who took part in one or more of the following battles: Battle of Ligny, Battle of Quatre Bras (16 June 1815), and the Battle of Waterloo (18 June)

On 25 March 1817 Richard mustered out at Chatham depot. Chatham, Kent, England, United Kingdom.

Richard married Mary Ann CROSBIE, daughter of Andrew CROSBIE and Martha HALLIDAY, on August 10, 1812 in Barony, Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland. Mary was born on January 20, 1794 in Barony, Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland1 and died on October 4, 1878 in Walkerton, Bruce Co, Ontario, Canada1 at age 84.
