92. William LAMB (Lewis36, Alexander8, William1) was born on September 11, 1850 in , Logie Buchan Parish, Aberdeenshire, Scotland1 and died on April 13, 1881 in Toronto, York Co, Ontario, Canada,1 aged 30.

William LAMB's origin is somewhat of a mystery, he was born in Scotland in 1851 and came to Canada as part of the LAMB Family. Grandma 'Kit' WATSON said "mother always told us William was left on our doorstep." Aunt Lizzy KINCAID and her brother David LAMB felt William must have been Uncle Lewis' son. Subsequently I have found William's marriage record and the parents are stated as Alexander LAMB and Mary PATTERSON. Since William was a part of the family I have assumed him to be an illigitimate son of Lewis (or Lewis father, Alexander).

The 1851 Scotland Cwnsus states his relationship to the head of the family to be Nephew.
An descendant of William is a DNA match, 3rd cousin once removed, to Kathy WATSON, a direct descendant of Alexander LAMB & Elizabeth BARRON. If William had been a nephew to Alexander the DNA match wouldnot likely be this close.

JOHN CRUICKSHANK KILLED INSTANTLY ON WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON
WHEN HIT BY FREIGHT TRAIN Article in Paisley Advocate, February 1950.
John Cruickshank, 87 year old former resident of Greenock Twp. and Paisley, who for the past several years has made his home at Eden Grove, was instantly killed Wednesday afternoon at 1:25 pm, when hit by a southbound CNR freight. The accident occurred at the railway crossing 100 ft directly south of the Pinkerton depot, and within sight of the Cruickshank residence. The aged man was walking east on the highway on his way to get the mail at the post office in Scott's General Store, and apparently failed to either see or hear the approaching freight train as it passed through the depot yards without stopping. Mr. Cruickshank walked almost directly into the path of the train which was travelling about 15 miles an hour. He was hurled across the right of way to land on the bank at the side of track, where the train crew found him when the freight was stopped, and the engineer and conductor hastened to his side. He sustained multiple injuries, including severe head cuts, a possible fractured scull, broken arm, and a number of minor hurts. Dr. Donald Milne of Paisley and Dr. T.A. Sinclair, Walkerton, the coroner, gave the opinion that Mr. Cruickshank died instantly.
The way freight was in charge of Wm. Dobney of Palmerston, the conductor, and James Manser of Southampton, the engineer. According to their version of the accident Mr. Cruickshank approached the railway crossing, walking slowly. The whistle of the locomotive was sounded repeatedly as the train rolled through the station yard and when it appeared to the engineer that the aged pedestrian was about to walk into the path of the train, brakes were applied, but Mr. Cruickshank stepped onto the track directly into the path of the train to be struck and hurled across the rails to the east side of the right of way. The victim of the accident was dead when members of the train crew reached his side. The train was held until the coroner, Dr. T.A. Sinclair of Walkerton, together with provincial police officers had made a preliminary investigation of the circumstances surrounding the accident. It is not yet known whether an inquest will be held.
Mr. Cruickshank was a well known and highly respected resident of the district, having farmed for many years on Lot 8, Con 15, Greenock Twp. before coming to live in Paisley about 30 years ago. After the death of his wife several years ago he continued to make his home in Paisley, until seven years ago when he went to live in Eden Grove.
He is survived by three daughters and one son; Mrs. Catherine Metcalfe; (Jean) Mrs. Clarence Fraser of Owen Sound; (Hazel) Mrs. E.D. Elwes of Paisley, and William Cruickshank on the old homestead.
The funeral will be held on Friday afternoon, with private services at his home, in Eden Grove, followed by a public service in Westminster Presbyterian Church, Paisley, at 2:30 pm. Interment will be in Purdy's Cemetery.

"WRITER HAS SPECIAL MEMORIES OF A FRIEND"
by Elwood Pinkerton
On Monday I was up to the Kent Milroy Funeral Home, in Paisley, to pay personal tribute to a very special person - Catherine 'Kit' Watson, who passed away at Bruce Lea Haven, March 28th in her 98th year. She was the widow of the late Marshall Watson of the Eden Grove community.
Surviving are her sons Jack and his wife Florence of Paisley and Bert and his wife Elva of Guelph. In addition there are two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Her pastor, Rev. Bill McKaig conducted a fitting funeral service and tribute pointing out Kit was almost in reach of the century milepost! She is the last member of the Lamb family, pioneers of the area.
Predeceasing her were; sisters, Susan, Margaret and Elizabeth (her twin) and brothers; Dave, Bill and Jack. In his address Rev. McKaig suggested to the large gathering the problems of rearing twin daughters almost 100 years ago!
'Kit' was an active member of the United Church in Eden Grove and I can recall attending a garden party on the church grounds and sitting beside 'Kit'. She had made a super Angel Cake and made a Daffodil (sponge) Cake to use up the surplus egg yolks. They were A-1.
It was a delight to visit with the grandchildren and their family. The large crowd attending on Monday, at the funeral home, was a worthy tribute to a very special lady from the church and the community. The floral arrangements were colorful and a delight to the eye. Many memorial contributions to the United Church, at Pinkerton were made.
