Research Notes: I have had a hard time trying to identify William S. McKENZIE.. The only 'concrete' evidence is his name on a Headstone in the Toronto Necropolis Cemetery and it only has a death date, 1868.
It appears he was William SOUTAR in Scotland and used his mother's maied name McKENZIE when in Canada.
If I am correct this is the sequence of events I have compiled;
William SOUTAR married Elizabeth PATERSON February 1843 in South Leith, Midlothian.

Margaret McKenzie SOUTAR born December 1943, Scotland to Wm and Eliza.

Amelia (Emily) McKENZIE born March 1847 in Scotland, death transcript says her mother was Amelia PATERSON

James Soutar McKENZIE born March 1849 to Wm and Eliz. in South Leith.

Although there are seven more children in the 1861 census in Scotland, the above four are not there and apparently went to Canada about 1851.

William McKENZIE (SOUTAR)may or may not have married Amelia DELMAGE in Canada before 1854. They apparently had four children. She is is in the 1851 census of Blanchard Twp, Perth County (in St. Mary's), 30 yrs old, spinster, born in Ireland. (Amelia DELMAN 1822, Ireland in the census transcript)

Susan born 1854.

Jeanette McKENZIE says on marriage transcript she was born at Westminster. (there are two in Ontario, a hamlet in Prescott Co, and a Township in Middlesex County, Minnie says she was born in Middlesex County.)

Wilhelmina McKENZIE's death transcript states she died January 3, 1943 age 86 (1857). Was born near Thorndale, Ontario (West Nissouri Twp, Middlesex County). Father William McKENZIE born Edinburg, Scot., mother Amelia.DELMAGE born Canada. Informant Mr G. F. McKENZIE, brother (this was Gilbert, her nephew).
