August 29, 30 & 31, 2018

Day Thirteen. we woke up to snow on the deck. Quite a surprise considering all the great weather we had had so far..

We board our zodiacs for a cruise to King Leopold Island.

You feel so insignificant cruising below these massive cliffs.
These cliffs rise 250 meters (750 ft) above the water level.

Kind Leopold Island is a bird sanctuary, housing  Thick-billed Murres, Northern Fulmars
and Black-legged Kittiwake.

Thick-billed murres.

The trip back to the ship was interesting as a thick fog had suddenly rolled in.

Day Fouteen found us in a convoy led by the icebreaker CCGS Louis St-Laurent through the ice on Prince Regent Inlet. Le Boreal, bound for Nome, Alaska, was in front of us.

We rendezvous in the open water of Prince Regent Sound

The helicopter returns after checking out further the ice conditions.

We leave the Ocean Endevour to take a zodiac cruise through the sea ice.

We encounter a walrus relaxing on a floe.
