In the early 50's she and her husband planned a trip to Canada to visit the son Jan. Unfortunately her husband Cor passed away in 1952 before he could make the trip. Jansje went to Canada by herself in 1953.

Cor was a contractor and developer building several homes that can still be seen in Bergen N.H. Later in life he assisted his son-in-law Jap VOLKERS in his Taxi business. He and his wife Jansje also owned and operated Pension Roozenoord at Guurtjeslaan 3 in Bergen. After their daughter Miep took over the pension in the early 40's Cor and Jansje retired to the house next door to Roosenoord.
